Siblings often find any reason to put their hands on each other–– wrestling, poking, wrangling and prodding –– but one Clayton County toddler can be forever grateful for a hug from his big brother.
Back in December, Malik Gipson, 8, and his brother, Michael, 2, were at their grandmother's house, while their parents cleaned her gutters.
The toddler began choking on a piece of peppermint candy, and his grandmother panicked. But Malik said he knew exactly what to do, and began to perform the Heimlich maneuver on the youngster.
It took two tries, but the candy eventually popped out.
How did he know?
"From watching the Disney XD show, 'Pair of Kings,'" said Malik Gipson.
The popular kids' show centers around a set of twin brothers living in Chicago, but who learn they are heirs to the king's throne of an island.
Malik Gipson will be recognized, Tuesday, for his heroic efforts. Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Chief Jeff Hood will present the 8-year-old with a certificate honoring him for saving his brother's life.
