A Florida man allegedly fought with police as he reportedly tried to escape being taken to jail on drug charges.
Henry County police arrested Jamond Donte Daniels during a traffic stop on I-75 southbound, near the 210 mile marker, in Locust Grove. Daniels, 24, was stopped by Officer J. Hart, Wednesday, allegedly for speeding in his 2012 Nissan Altima.
“A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed [one pound] of powder cocaine and 300 MDMA [ecstasy] tablets,” said Hart in the arrest warrant for Daniels.
Once the officer found the illegal drugs, he said, he tried to arrest the Tallahassee man. “While doing so, Mr. Daniels fought with officer by trying to escape custody and by striking this officer,” continued the arrest warrant.
The warrant added that, as Daniels was being booked into the Henry County Jail, the staff also found less than an ounce of marijuana on him.
Police charged Daniels with trafficking cocaine, illegal possession of marijuana, trafficking MDMA, and obstruction of an officer.
Daniels appeared in Henry County Magistrate Court, Thursday, before Judge Robert Godwin. His case was bound over to Henry County Superior Court.
Daniels remained in the Henry County Jail without bond at press time, Friday.
