Two Massachusetts men, who already endured two hung juries in a 2006 murder, pleaded guilty Monday in Clayton County Superior Court.
Victims Norris Degree, and Stanley Brown, of Ellenwood, were found shot to death at Cobblestone Flat Apartments.
Gary Hakeem Brown, 27, and Kevin Michael Brewington, 26, were sentenced to 20 years, to serve 12 in prison. They were given credit for six years –– the time served since their March 2006 arrests.
The two men entered an Alford plea, which allows them to take responsibility for two counts of aggravated assault, without admitting guilt. Eleven other counts, including multiple murder, were dropped as part of the plea negotiations.
A third co-defendant, Tyrone Brown, 28, of Rex, was convicted on all charges in the case. Brown was sentenced to life in prison.
