Jonesboro Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a wooded area at the Harmony Crossroads Apartments, at 8050 Tara Blvd., on Wednesday.
Police Chief Franklin Allen said a resident of the apartment complex found the body of an African-American female, between 20 and 30 years old, covered by a “large bed-type covering,” at 7 p.m. The body has not yet been identified, the chief said, and a cause of death has not yet been determined. Police are treating the case as a homicide, however, because of unspecified injuries found on the body. Clayton County police and the GBI’s Crime Scene Unit have been called in to assist, Allen said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (770) 478-7407.
