JONESBORO — Police responding to a domestic dispute in College Park Friday learned the violence was rooted in an allegation of incest between a man and his adult daughter, who is reportedly HIV-positive.
Michael Leon Carter, 48, and Michelle Angela Wilson, 24, are charged with incest and battery under the Family Violence Act. Wilson is also charged with cruelty to children in the third degree and reckless conduct. Police allege Wilson knows she is HIV-positive and was having unprotected relations with Carter without letting him know her status.
Both made first appearances in Clayton County Magistrate Court Saturday and got bonds set on their charges. They have not made bail and are being held in the Clayton County Jail. A magistrate set a July 12 preliminary hearing. However, once a defendant posts bond, that hearing is waived.
Police went to the family home on Joan of Arc Place in College Park Friday about 2:13 a.m. in response to a domestic violence call. In warrants issued by Clayton Magistrate Court, police said another relative, Debra Glass Carter, 47, confronted Wilson about the alleged relationship and a fight broke out.
A second relative, Tyeisha L. Glass, 25, reportedly jumped into the fracas to defend Debra Carter and Wilson punched her in the mouth, said police. The fight allegedly took place in front of an 8-month-old baby boy, said police.
No one else has been charged.
