Mrs. Deloris “Dee” Jones, 75, of Sun City Peachtree, Griffin, Georgia passed away July 8, 2012. She was born in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Howard and Florence Jones Colburn. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard and Charles Colburn, stepfather, Arthur Cloninger and a stepbrother, Artie Cloninger. She graduated from Vinson High School, Class of 1955, in Huntington, W.Va. Dee retired from State Farm Insurance, had operated Dee’s Daycare out of her home and worked for Macy’s. She enjoyed cruising, bowling, snow skiing, working word puzzles and shopping, especially at Macy’s and Chico’s. She loved life, never met a stranger, loved kids, helping others and playing Bunco with friends.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Jones, of Griffin; daughter, Janet (Robert Dale) Knight, of Hernando, Miss.; son, Robert “Bob” (Beth) Kite, of McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren, Katie Knight, Chris Kite and Sarah Kite; nieces, nephews, friends and children she “adopted as her own” through her daycare.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Clint Andrews will officiate. Entombment will follow at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may visit the family Wednesday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Dee.
