Convicted child molester indicted

JONESBORO — A Rex man serving a 10-year sentence in state prison for child molestation was indicted in Clayton County Superior Court Wednesday on charges stemming from a 2004 allegation.

Jose Javier Gomez, 43, was indicted on multiple counts of child molestation, according to court records. The indictment alleges Gomez exposed himself and acted inappropriately in front of at least four children on Mays Ridge Court. He is also charged with public indecency.

Georgia Department of Corrections records show Gomez began serving a 10-year sentence in February for child molestation.

In other indictments, Jamaal Abdul Smith, 27, of Jonesboro, faces charges he speeded through a school zone and hit a police officer with his car Feb. 23. Other charges include obstruction of a police officer, reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to elude and escape. Police said after Smith was taken into custody, he exited the patrol car.

Smith is being held in the Clayton County Jail, unable to post bond.

Christopher Johari Green was indicted on similar charges. Police said Green hit a Clayton County sheriff's deputy, seriously injuring him July 30, 2010. Green was indicted for aggravated assault on a police officer, serious injury by vehicle, failure to obey a police officer and reckless driving.

Lazarus Lamont Glover, 32, of Morrow, was indicted for aggravated child molestation involving sodomy from Oct. 1, 2009, until March 30, 2010. Other charges are enticing a child for indecent purposes, aggravated sodomy, interference with child custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail.

David Freeman Jr., was indicted on two counts of terroristic acts. Police said he fired a BB gun at two cars April 18. He is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail on a probation violation.

Franklin Junior Williams was indicted on sexual battery and two counts of child molestation in an Oct. 13 alleged incident.

Carl Primas was indicted on enticing a child for indecent purposes and three counts of child molestation. The indictment alleges Primas performed sex acts in front of an underage boy and allowed him to view pornography during the month of July 2009.

Treshon Xavier Smith, 18, of East Point, was indicted on two counts each of statutory rape and child molestation in a Jan. 22 alleged incident. He is being held in the Clayton County Jail, unable to post bond.

Ronald Michael Morgan, 38, of Conley, was indicted for allegedly assaulting a minor Dec. 28. Police said he grabbed the girl, choked her and pushed to the ground, where he kicked her. Morgan faces charges of battery, simple battery and cruelty to children because the alleged incident was witnessed by a second underage child.

Morgan is being held in the Clayton County Jail, unable to post $13,000 bond.
