Brianna Vaughn admits that she was feeling the pressure this season as the Class AAAA track and field championship approached last month in Albany.

For the Union Grove senior, it was her last shot at a high school state title.

Vaughn didn’t disappoint herself as she won both the 100 and 200-meters for her first high school titles.

“It took a while for me to get them, but I put in a lot of hard work,” Vaughn said. “There was some pressure because it was my last time to do it.”

In 2011, Vaughn was runner-up at state in the 100 event. This season, she capture both titles in addition to winning the region and county in each event.

She said running a competitive indoor season was one of the keys to her success this season.

“I think I was in better condition this season,” said Vaughn, who has offers from Auburn, Georgia and Clemson. “I was able to build my speed up through all my training.”
