Clayton State’s Small Business Development Center is taking registrations for a free workshop next week devoted to helping businesses find money.
The workshop, scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, from 1 p.m., to 4 p.m., at Clayton State’s Harry S. Downs Center, will be the first of its type in Clayton County and one of the first in Georgia, according to Heather Chaney, program coordinator.
The workshop will open with a talk by SBDC area director Alisa Kirk. Participants can then meet representatives from both “traditional and non-traditional” lenders, according to Crystal Black, vice president of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, a workshop co-sponsor.
Kennesaw State’s upcoming ABCs Fair — devoted to accountants, bankers and CPAs — is similar, Chaney said, “but we want to just focus on banking, because most small businesses are looking for loans.”
Thus far, more than 80 people have registered to attend. Similar workshops will be held in Henry, Fayette and Spalding counties if this one is well received.
Small-business owners who want to attend are encouraged to register at www.georgiasbdc.org. Lenders who’d like exhibit tables at the workshop can call the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce at (678) 610-4021.
