Susie Geneva Smith Bauknecht

Susie Geneva Smith Bauknecht, 95, of Macon, passed away with many of her beloved family surrounding her on Sunday, June 17, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at Hart’s Mortuary located at 765 Cherry St., Macon, on Thursday, June 21, at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Tennille. The Rev. David Hunter will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m., at Hart’s Mortuary Funeral home, 765 Cherry St.

Born in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Louis Smith and Susie Louella Wood. She was the widow of Robert Henry Smith and L.A. “Butch” Bauknecht. She was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She retired from Sears & Roebuck after 25 years of service, and later went to work for Joseph A. Neel Clothiers, of Macon. She was the Sunday School Superintendent at Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years, president of council at Vineville Christian Towers, president of the garden club at Vineville Christian Towers, a very faithful follower of the Lord and dearly loved her church family.

She is survived by her son, Eddie and Joan Smith, of Byron; daughter, Deborah J. Ruis, of McDonough; daughter Barbara Ann Smith Woodall, of Hampton; grandson, Gadson “Gad” Herndon and Lynn Woodall, III of McDonough, Ga.; grandson, William Vincent “Vince” Woodall, of Stockbridge; Victor and Natalie Woodall, of Locust Grove; granddaughter, Valerie K. Woodall, of Gay; granddaughter Christy Crosby, of Gray; granddaughter, Joie and Dudley McCluney, of Milledgeville; grandson, Rob Smith, of Woodstock; grandson Toby Smith, of Cartersville; great-grandson, Gadson H. Woodall, IV; great-granddaughter, Kalee S. Woodall; great-grandson, George “Mac” McDonald; great-grandson, Michael Woodall; great-grandson, Austin Woodall; great-granddaughter, Victoria Clanton; great-grandson, Stephen Gardner; great-grandson, William Woodall, Jr.; great-grandson Trevor Freeman; great-granddaughter, Lori Freeman; great-grandson, Dakota Lee Austin Benefield; great-grandson, Devon William; great-grandson, Jessie James; great-granddaughters, Kayla, Andrea and Brooke McCluney;
