Clayton State University will be the site of a two-day “All Candidates Political Forum” on Thursday, June 28, and Friday, June 29. This free and open-to-the-public chance to meet the candidates seeking to hold office in Clayton County prior to the July 31 primary is being held by the Coalition of Clayton County Clergy, and is sponsored by Tara Garden Chapel. The June 28 forum will take place from 5 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., in room UC272 of the James M. Baker University Center. It will include candidates for the offices of sheriff, district attorney, county commission chair, and county commissioner from districts II and III. The June 29 forum, also from 5 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., will be held in room B14 of the Clayton State Lecture Hall and will include candidates for U.S. congressional districts five and 13, state senate district 44, and state representative districts 60, 62, 74, 75, 76, 77 and 78. All candidates running for these offices have been invited to attend.

Clayton State University’s Loch Shop, on Wednesday, June 13, and running through Wednesday, July 25 (the end of the summer semester), will be giving students, faculty and staff a chance to unwind, with a series of “Wii Wednesdays.” According to Loch Shop Manager Todd Smith, Wii Wednesdays will run from June 13 through July 25 (except for July 4) in The Loch Shop’s lounge, located on the first floor of the Clayton State Student Center. Wii Wednesdays will start each Wednesday at noon and end at 3 p.m. “Come relieve some test stress every Wednesday in June and July,” says Loch Shop Customer Service & Marketing Supervisor Jeanette Taylor in an e-mail to Clayton State students. Taylor notes that a variety of popular Wii games will be available for play, including bowling, Mario Kart, basketball 3-point contest, and the Michael Jackson Experience. There will also be prizes for participating, free snacks, and the top scores will qualify to enter the June 27 and July 25 prize drawings.
