Morrow police will be serving up crab cakes all day Thursday, along with everything else on the menu at Joe’s Crab Shack, to raise money for Special Olympics.
Sgt. Larry Oglesby said diners need to bring a coupon printed from the Special Olympics Georgia website for 10 percent of their bill to be given back to the organization. All tips collected Thursday from 11 a.m., to 9 p.m., will be given to Special Olympics Georgia.
Oglesby said he isn’t sure how many of the department’s 40 officers will be there but he expects Chief Chris Leighty to participate.
“We’ll be out there all day,” he said. “Tell everyone to make a mental note that they’ve got to eat at Joe’s on Thursday to help support Special Olympics.”
The coupon can be printed from www.specialolympicsga.org/torch-run/events/tip-a-cop and must accompany the diner’s payment for dinner.
Law-enforcement officers in all five Joe’s Crab Shack locations will be participating in the fundraiser, including Douglasville, Duluth, Kennesaw and Lilburn.
“This fund-raiser is new to us,” he said. “We expect everyone in Clayton County to come out and support this good cause.”
