Clayton News Daily
A newspaper veteran who has championed open records and government transparency joins the Clayton News Daily this week as its editor in chief.
Jim Zachary is an award-winning journalist who edited newspapers in East Tennessee and also serves as director of the Tennessee Transparency Project.
Zachary has been honored multiple times by the Tennessee Press Association, the National Newspaper Association, and the University of Tennessee’s Edward J. Meeman Foundation.
“My vision of a community newspaper is that it belongs to the community it serves,” Zachary said. “We are caretakers.”
He added that he was excited about the opportunity to meet with citizens and become a part of Clayton County.
“We are excited to have Jim on board,” said News Daily publisher Bonnie Pratt. “He brings great dynamics to the newsroom, not only as a government watchdog with a proven track record, but as a community journalist who understands the value of connecting to our counties and municipalities.”
