Student arrested on sex charges

A Mt. Zion High School student faces sex charges, after his arrest Friday, said a Clayton County Sheriff's spokesman.

J'Shun Robert Smith, 17, of Jonesboro, is charged with child molestation and sexual battery, said Lt. Brian Crisp. He is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail, pending his first appearance hearing Saturday morning.

Crisp said Smith is accused of putting his hand under the shirt of a 15-year-old female student and grabbing her breasts. Crisp said the alleged incident took place at school.

Fugitive caught

A fugitive sought by Clayton County Sheriff's investigators since 2006, has been captured, said Crisp. Marion Alonso, 21, was arrested, Thursday, by the Clayton County Fugitive Unit and the Forest Park Police Department. The arrest was made at a Forest Park apartment just before 10 a.m.

Alonso was picked up on an outstanding bench warrant for multiple charges of violence, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during a crime, and hijacking a motor vehicle. Crisp said the charges stem from a 2006 crime spree.

Co-defendant Cesar Cortez, 38, is serving a 17-year sentence in a Georgia State Prison for his role in the alleged crimes. A third co-defendant, Gerardo Ocampo, remains at large.
