As part of an ongoing community service project, Explorers with the Clayton County Police Department will be collecting canned food Saturday for local pantries.
Sgt. Tracy Jakes said Explorers will hand out empty bags to residents in North Shore subdivision. Residents will be asked to fill those bags with non-perishable items.
On Saturday, March 31, the Explorers will return to the homes to pick up the filled bags.
Jakes said residents can also drop off non-perishable items at a collection bin at the Clayton County Police Headquarters at 7911 North McDonough St. in Jonesboro.
“Every year, the Clayton County Police Explorers participate in different community service projects within Clayton County,” said Jakes. “These activities teach our youth about the importance of giving back to their communities.”
For questions or information about the Explorers, contact officers Cemetris Williams at (770) 472-8024 or Phong Nguyen at (770) 477-3546.
