A Riverdale woman was indicted Wednesday for allegedly causing blindness in a victim, according to Clayton County Superior Court records.
Samantha Renee Thomas, 24, is being held on $50,000 bond in the Clayton County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and false imprisonment in connection with the December alleged incident. The indictment alleges Thomas hit Mona Thompson in the face, causing her to lose sight in her left eye.
Thomas is also charged with four counts of first-degree child cruelty because police allege the assault took place in front of four children.
In other indictments:
-- Demetrius Marcus Jernigan was indicted for kidnapping, armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, theft by taking and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and by a convicted felon. Police allege Jernigan, 24, kidnapped Cynthia Bell on Sept. 8 and stole her vehicle and other items. He is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail.
-- Timothy Jerel Amey and Shaheed Shampshadine Robinson, 22, were indicted in connection with the Jan. 7, 2011, stabbing of Rashad Smith.
-- Whitney Lakimbria Hadley has been indicted on two counts of first-degree child cruelty and battery under the Family Violence Act. Police said Hadley beat two of her children, causing injuries.
-- Lenadro Bernard Johnson and Terrance Tyrone Roberts were indicted in the shooting of Christopher Lucas during an April 21 alleged incident. They face charges of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Johnson was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Johnson is being held in the Clayton County Jail.
-- Joshua Demarion Brown, 21, was indicted for aggravated battery, simple battery, simple battery under the Family Violence Act, interference with a 911 call and child cruelty. He is being held in the Clayton County Jail. Police allege Brown assaulted Michelle Brown in front of their children during an Oct. 1 incident and kept her from calling for help.
-- Darien Ryan Jones, 18, of Jonesboro, was indicted for Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act in a Nov. 12 incident. Jones is being held in the Clayton County Jail. Police allege Jones fired a gun into an occupied residence while a member of the Gambino gang. He faces multiple charges of aggravated assault, criminal trespass, pointing a pistol at another, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and by a first offender probationer.
-- Earnest Jr. Wright was indicted for child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and sexual battery in a Sept. 12 alleged incident.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
