Hampton resident Gayla Richards rides Xpress and MARTA from Jonesboro to her job in Sandy Springs, and she gets occasional gifts from The Clean Air Campaign to keep doing it — including transit fare and even a gift card for $25 worth of gas.

Incentives are based on her travel activity, which Richards logs every Friday on the Clean Air Campaign’s website.

Before she started using public transportation, Richards drove about 55 miles one way to work. Gas for her GMC Denali cost $75 a week.

That was before gas prices went up.

Now Richards rides, and she says she loves being able to read a book — or even take a nap — on the way to work.
