Local sororities are asking the community to come out, today, and support their initiative to collect schools supplies for students living in Clayton and Henry counties.
Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., (the Psi Alpha Omega Chapter), and the Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., will a host school-supply drive Thursday, May 3, from 6:30 p.m., to 9 p.m., at Benchwarmers, which is located at 1375 Rock Quarry Road, in Stockbridge.
The sororities are asking members of the community to donate school supplies to help “stuff” 104 book bags, in an effort to give students the tools they will need to succeed in school.
According to a spokesperson for the event, the following items are needed: white glue, large erasers, glue sticks, crayons, markers, color pencils, pencils, pens (blue or black ink), dry erase markers, safety scissors and regular scissors, two-pocket folders, wide-ruled notebooks, wide-ruled loose leaf paper, 2-inch, 3-ring binders, composition or spiral notebooks, dividers (at least 6), packs of graph paper, rulers (inches and centimeters), highlighters, 3x5 index cards (white), protractors, basic calculators, graphing calculators, and compasses.
The Psi Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., serves Clayton and Henry counties, and holds annual fund-raisers and supply drives that support community programs, under the National Initiative known as “Global Leadership Through Timeless Service.”
