Detectives with the Forest Park Police Department said an unidentified, armed man robbed the Wells Fargo Bank, in Forest Park, on Monday morning.
The man, police said, entered the Wells Fargo branch, located at 4532 Jonesboro Road, at 11:28 a.m., and displayed a note demanding money from a bank teller, while waving his gun in an aggressive manner.
The suspect ran out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, and got into a blue vehicle that was waiting for him, according to police.
The getaway vehicle was located by police, after it crashed while traveling through Ellenwood. Detectives said the driver, along with two passengers in the car, fled the scene of the crash, and ran into a wooded area.
Dekalb County police used their tracking K9 and aerial support to assist Forest Park investigators, police said. One man, whose identity is being withheld, was located, and was transported to a local hospital. Police gave no details about his condition or reason for being taken to a hospital. They also said no charges have been filed, at his point, and the investigation is ongoing.
