Clayton County Public Schools is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the district’s proposed Fiscal Year 2013 Budget on Thursday, May 17, at 6 p.m., at the Clayton County Public Schools Administration Complex, which is located at 1058 Fifth Ave., in Jonesboro.


Forest Park High has become an official testing center for Certiport Testing, the testing agency that certifies Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) students in the Computer Networking Pathway.

Mount Zion Elementary Gina Strickland-Cooper, a physical education teacher, and her students won a $500 check for winning second place in a competition sponsored by Youth Under Construction. Beulah Elementary of Douglas County was the first-place winner. The funds will be used to educate students on better eating habits, physical fitness, and the importance of bully awareness and prevention.

The Clayton County Public Schools Homeless Education Department recently announced that Morrow High has earned first place in the Spring Cleaning Drive with donations totaling more than 1,500 pounds. So far America’s Thrift Store has collected more than 5,000 pounds of gently used clothing and small household items from district schools. The Spring Cleaning Drive will continue until the end of May.

Air Force Reserve Airman Vincent Buglione has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2011 graduate of Morrow High School, and is the son of Teresa Buglione, of Morrow.


The Clayton County Public Library System offers many services to students, including online practice tests and tutorials in math, reading and writing, as well as test-preparation materials for the SAT, ASVAB, GED, TOEFFL, and Occupational Aptitude Tests.
