Three Clayton County high schools have received bronze medals in the U.S. News & World Report’s national rankings for best high schools. They are: Jonesboro High, Lovejoy High, and Mount Zion High.
According to the U.S. News & World Report’s website, of the Georgia schools ranked in 2012, eight were awarded gold medals, 30 earned silver medals and 39 received bronze medals.
Schools were awarded the different medals in a three-step process that took into consideration state proficiency standards, how well they prepare students for college and other factors. U.S. News teamed up with the American Institutes for Research to analyze 21,776 public high schools in 49 states — with only Nebraska omitted because it had insufficient data.
