Metro Atlanta’s jobless numbers continue to improve, and while Henry County is a part of that trend, Clayton County is still bringing up the rear.
The Georgia State Department of Labor has reported that Atlanta area’s jobless rate had dropped to 8.5 percent last month, its lowest mark since 2008. That matches the figure in Henry County.
However, of the 28 counties comprising the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), Clayton had the second-highest rate of unemployment, 10.5 percent. Only Spalding County, with 11 percent, had a higher unemployment rate. Forsyth County, with 6.6 percent, had the lowest rate in the Atlanta MSA.
The Athens-Clarke County MSA had the lowest unemployment rate in Georgia with 6.5 percent.
