Judge Eugene E. Lawson

Judge Eugene E. Lawson passed away on Nov. 5, 2012, at his home in Newnan. Judge Lawson served as Clayton County Probate Judge from 1983 until 2003. He was a past president of the Probate Judges Council of Georgia. Judge Lawson served his community as a member of the board for the Spivey Foundation and as an active member of several outreach organizations in Clayton County.

Judge Lawson was predeceased by his son, Philip Lawson. He is survived by his wife, Mildred E. Lawson; three children, Deborah Butcher, Eddie Athearn, and Barbara Parker; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Adkins and Sandra Sietz of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Visitation and a memorial service will be at Tara Garden Chapel, 681 North Ave., Jonesboro, on Thursday, Nov. 8. Visitation hours will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed immediately by the memorial service at 3 p.m.

......This is very bad news. Judge Lawson was a very good Judge in our county, and very fair. When he was our Probate Judge, he would sign off on my State Firearm ( Carry )Permits and I never had a problem.
