JONESBORO — Lovejoy wide receiver JuMichael Ramos committed to Georgia Tech on Friday night, one day after getting an official offer and just moments after Lovejoy’s 56-0 regular season finale victory over Alcovy.
Ramos, who had two catches for 65 yards in the game, picked the Yellow Jackets over Middle Tennessee State and Cincinnati and said he liked his potential as a change of pace offensive weapon in Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson’s triple-option offense.
“I know I can make plays for that kind of offense on third and long or just whenever they need me to make one,” Ramos said.
He said he waited to make his decision until Friday night as sort of a climax to his career at Lovejoy.
“I just wanted to commit after my last game here on senior night,” he said. “It was real special for me.”
Ramos will join teammate Travis Custis, who committed to Georgia Tech earlier this year. He is Lovejoy’s sixth Division I football commitment this year.
Lovejoy coach Al Hughes said he was convinced that Georgia Tech will like what they see from Ramos once he steps on campus.
“I’m excited for him,” Hughes said. “He’s a fine young man. He’s worked real hard and done everything we’ve ever asked of him. He’s going to be an outstanding football player for Georgia Tech.”
