Clayton County sheriff-elect Victor Hill appears to have blocked an attempted coup by a write-in candidate, according to unofficial results Tuesday night.

Defense attorneys for former Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill lost a bid to dismiss the prosecution’s appeal of the judge's decision to drop five counts against Hill.

A Clayton County Board of Education District 5 candidate wanted on a bench warrant was arrested after deputies spotted him outside a Riverdale voting site Wednesday morning holding one of his campaign signs, said a sheriff’s spokesman.
