County offices, schools shut down by Thanksgiving

— Turkey Day is causing a storm of impending closures to descend upon Clayton County.

As the storm draws near, there is a 100-percent chance all Clayton County Public Schools offices will be closed from Nov. 19 until Nov. 23, district officials have announced. As the eye of Turkey-geddon arrives in the county, it also will shut down county offices on Nov. 22 and Nov. 23, according to the county’s website.

Residents will have to prepare for the oncoming storm by adjusting their schedules immediately to make sure their affairs with government and school system officials are taken care of before next week’s Thanksgiving holiday. After all, they’ll have to be free to devour all of the turkeys that brought on the impending closures.

That means any parents who need to talk with principals or teachers at their children’s schools will have to do so by Friday. Any resident who needs to pay tax bills, or file documents in court will need to do so by next Wednesday.

Clayton News Daily will also alter its schedule because of the turkeys. The newspaper offices will close at 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 and Nov. 23. It will also be shuttered on Thanksgiving Day because of the tasty birds.

The schools and government offices will be able to reopen Nov. 26, after all of the turkeys have been devoured, according to officials.
