RIVERDALE— A Riverdale High school student was arrested on campus Thursday.
Clayton County Sheriff’s deputy E. McGhee said he apprehended Kenyatta Jamice Looney at the school at 10 a.m., following an argument with a student, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
“{Looney] did have a two-and-a-half inch knife in her possession on the campus of Riverdale High School after being in a verbal altercation with another student,” said McGhee in the affidavit.
Clayton County school spokesman David Waller said the verbal confrontation between the two students happened on the school bus while on their way to school.
“As soon as they arrived, one of the students reported that one of the students involved in the confrontation had a knife,” Waller said. “She reported that information to the schools’ resource officer, Deputy McGhee. The resource officer and the assistant principal, Genghis Shakhan, conducted a search of the student’s book bag and they found a small knife and she was arrested today and immediately transported to the Clayton County Juvenile Detention Center.”
Looney is charged with possession of a weapon and disruption with the operation of a public school.
