JONESBORO — Two men are behind bars for the roles they allegedly played in a deadly hit and run.
Jeremy Alvoyd Blackmon was arrested Monday and charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, failure to stop at or return to the scene of an accident, by the Clayton County authorities.
Blackmon and Kevin Ricardo Anderson are charged with tampering with evidence.
Blackmon is accused of causing the death of Aaron Allen when he allegedly hit Allen on June 17, 2011 while driving a gray 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass at state route 314 (West Fayetteville Road.)
Blackmon and Anderson were indicted by a Clayton County Grand Jury in Clayton County Superior Court during the February term of 2012.
“He did strike the victim with his motor vehicle and failed to stop and render aid,” according to the indictment.
The men are accused of destroying evidence to prevent Blackmon being caught by the authorities. Blackmon, the alleged driver of the car, is also accused of failing to stop immediately and return to the scene to render “reasonable assistance,” continued the indictment.
Blackmon is also accused of failing to report the hit-and-run accident to College Park Police.
Both men pleaded not guilty to their respective charges.
