“Nobody does it better.

Makes me feel sad for the rest

Nobody does it half as good as you.

Baby, you’re the best.”

— Carly Simon, “Nobody Does it Better.”

Clayton County officials are crowing loudly after the Georgia Recreation and Park Association named the county’s parks department the state’s best earlier this month.

The Clayton County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation last week, celebrating the county’s Parks and Recreation department being named the 2012 Agency of the Year by the state recreation association. The declaration was presented to 28 parks and creation employees during the commission’s meeting Nov. 20.

The Agency of the Year award was bestowed on Clayton County Parks and Recreation during the Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s annual conference Nov. 8.

“The prestigious title of Agency of the Year recognizes the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department as the top agency in the entire state of Georgia, acknowledging outstanding services and programs provided to Clayton County citizens,” the commission’s proclamation states.

The award came almost a year to the day after the county’s recreation department — which is the fourth-largest department in the county government with 170 employees and 32 parks and facilities — achieved another milestone.

Last November, the department became Georgia’s first county-wide parks agency to receive national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.

“They are still the only nationally accredited county-wide parks and recreation system in Georgia and you can go print that in your newspaper,” said Commission Chairman Eldrin Bell, as he beamed with pride after the proclamation was issued last week.

......Both of Our Sons played Rec ball in Clayton County, from 5 years old, until 16 years old. Our youngest Son played ball for The High School and The Recreational Center during the same season.

......We met a lot families around Clayton County, by being members of the Recreation Centers. My Wife was a Team Mother, while I coached, managed, and sponsored a Team.

.......We was introduced to other teams and families during the play off tournaments. We like the people so much, in other areas, that we took our Sons to play ball in their community. ......This is probably the best way to get introduced to the people in our county, and to meet old school mates again. .

....I wonder if this includes The Forest Park Recreation Department, as well as all of the other City Youth Sport Programs located throughout the county ?
