JONESBORO — The Jonesboro City Council will review its efforts to minimize the negative impact abandoned houses have on the city Monday.
The Council is expected to discuss making revisions to its eight-year old nuisance abatement ordinance at its next work session. Mayor Joy Day said the proposed changes are “perfunctory” in nature and are being done to bring city code in line with state law.
Monday’s Council meeting will begin at 6 p.m., in the City Council chambers at the Jonesboro Police Department, located at 170 South Main St.
Other items on the agenda include: Discussion on the purchase of new geographic information system software for city hall; a resolution to join Clayton County in the implementation of an energy excise tax and rental fees for Lee Street Park.
The Council is also expected to appoint residents Arlene Charles, Harry Osborne, Karol Osborne, Cathy Roark, Donya Sartor-Constantine and Betsy Wester to the newly re-constituted Jonesboro Historic Preservation Commission.
There is also an executive session for a personnel matter on the agenda.
