MCDONOUGH — Incoming Clayton County Commission Chairman Jeff Turner's son has been arrested in Henry County for felony probation violation.
Brandon D'angelo Turner, 21, of McDonough was arrested Monday and is being held without bond in the Henry County Jail.
Jeff Turner couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
Turner is serving five years on probation for an October 2008 burglary conviction. He was first arrested at 17 in May 2008 when his father was Clayton County police chief. While on bond two months later, he was arrested for robbery.
According to Henry County court records, the robbery charge was reduced to theft by taking and Turner was allowed to plead guilty under the First Offender Act. His 12-month probated sentenced was suspended upon payment of $112 restitution. The conviction was discharged in October 2009.
Jeff Turner joined the Clayton County Police Department as a patrolman in April 1987 and worked his way through the ranks to chief in March 2007. He left the department in 2009 and ran successfully for chairman of the Clayton County Commission this year. He is expected to take office Jan. 1.
Jeff Turner grew up in Morrow but moved years ago to Henry County with his wife and four sons. Turner said he moved back to Clayton to run for elected office.
