MORROW — Clayton State University’s world-famous Spivey Hall launches its 2012/13 Young People’s Concert season this coming Wednesday.
As in the past, the Young People’s Concerts will feature a variety of classical, world music, jazz, and early childhood education concerts.
The season opening-program will be on Wed., Oct. 10, at 9:45 a.m., featuring a notable world music performance by Via Romen! This vibrant group will present Russian-Romany (“gypsy”) music on native instruments including guitar, violin, accordion, and bass. In addition to outstanding music, audiences will also be treated to the flashy footwork of gypsy dance and traditional costumes.
Students (and anyone else who wants a world music experience) can go around the world for $2 a person. For more information on this performance, go to http://www.spiveyhall.org/young-peoples-concerts/via-romen.
