MORROW — A man police say robbed the Bank of America in Morrow was apprehended Thursday, just hours after police said he robbed a bank in Augusta.
Eddie Adonis Garnett was arrested in Richmond County around 9 p.m., at a Travelodge hotel in Augusta. Police said Garnett was alone at the hotel when he was taken into custody.
“He was arrested by U.S. Marshals and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office without incident,” said Morrow Police Capt. James Callaway, whose investigators also played a role in the capture. “He was also charged for a bank robbery earlier that same day in Augusta. He was active with warrants from Morrow for robbery.”
Callaway said Garnett, 42, may also be a suspect in a Sept. 14 Riverdale bank robbery.
The Morrow police captain said on Oct. 2, Garnett robbed the Bank of America located at 1200 Mt. Zion Road in Morrow. Police arrested Renard Stafford Wednesday, and charged him as the driver of the getaway car in that robbery.
“We have been working non-stop since the robbery to find this bank robbery suspect,” Callaway said. “We were able to develop a lot of leads early on and we quickly apprehended the getaway driver. We were able to determine through different investigative resources the identity of ‘Eddie’ and were able to track him to Augusta. When we arrived in Augusta, we had an active warrant for his arrest in Clayton County.”
The police captain said Garnett robbed a SunTrust bank in Richmond County around 11 a.m., the same day he was arrested.
