McDONOUGH — Here come the brides.
A bridal show on the McDonough Square rained out Sept. 30 has been reset for Oct. 21 and organizers are hoping brides-to-be from the Southern Crescent will attend and check out vendors.
Best of all for brides looking for the greatest value, the 1 p.m. show is free. Tracy and Mark Englund, owners of This is You Photography, host the event as Southern Square Bridal. Tracy Englund said brides will have access to vendors from across the state.
"We'll have local vendors but also ones from Atlanta and Macon," she said. "We'll have a DJ playing music and a fashion show with gowns and tuxedos. It's a fun event for brides to meet vendors from the wedding industry."
McDonough Square merchants who are participating in the Oct. 21 show are This is You Photography, Black Tie Formal Wear, Scarlett's Retreat Day Spa and Bliss, a bakery known for exquisitely-designed formal cakes as well as creatively-flavored cupcakes.
Other Henry County participants are Absolutely Flowers, Grand Gourmet, Alexander House and G Gallery Interior Designs, said Englund.
About 200 brides attended the first McDonough show in April. Sunday's four-hour event includes a fashion show.
It may seem too soon to begin planning a 2013 wedding but Englund said This is You Photography already has four weddings booked for the fall.
It also pays to use vendors local to the venue to avoid travel time.
The Englunds married on the Square. Shortly afterward, they opened their studio on Griffin Street, within view of the Square. Black Tie Formal Wear, one of Sunday's vendors, opened this month next door to the Englunds' studio.
The couple will be participating in bridal shows in Augusta in January and in Marietta in February. In addition to shooting weddings, they indulge in travel photography and passing on what they've learned to young photographers.
