FOREST PARK — A large crowd is expected to converge on to Starr Park, Saturday for the 27th annual Autumn in the Park festival.

This year’s Autumn in the Park festival is scheduled to be held from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., in Starr Park located at 803 Forest Parkway.

The Forest Park annual festival will feature more than 60 vendors selling jewelry, clothes, handbags, an assortment of accessories, gift baskets, books, information on computer training, photo greeting cards, arts & crafts. Some of the food vendors will offer funnel cakes, barbecue, fish gourmet soups and sandwiches, boiled peanuts, nachos, cotton candy, corn dogs, pizza, chicken sandwiches and various other edibles.

“We are trying to bring the community together to enjoy a day in the park and to get information about other events and activities that are going on,” said Sharon Smith, Forest Park Recreation Deputy Director. “We just want people to come out and have a good time.”

The city of Forest Park Recreation Leisure Services sponsors the festival every year, Smith said.

There is no admission for the festival.

Children activities at the festival will include inflatables, games, moonwalk, obstacle course, face painting, along with other activities designed for youngsters.

“We will have live entertainment throughout the day,” Smith added.

Some of the entertainment scheduled to perform are gospel singer Jasmine Seabron, a Hispanic band, Mariachi Vallarta, Walnut Country band, and Touch of Class Jazz Band.

Some of the contests that will be held at the Autumn in the Park festival include hula hoop, dance and trivia contest.

Forest Park Police Department will be giving safety tips during the event and the Forest Park Fire Department will bring its Fire Safety House.

Smith said the Forest Park public works will have a booth where they will be discussing the advantages of recycling.

“Arts Clayton will have a booth, too, where kids can make arts and crafts,” she continued.
