Eleanor Johnson White, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away on Oct. 20, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, Ms. White later relocated to Forest Park, Ga., and spent a number of years working in childcare. After subsequently moving to Fayetteville to be closer to her adult children, Ms. White became an active member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class at Harps Crossing Baptist Church. Ms. White also spent countless hours volunteering at The Thrift Store, a charitable project supporting the Fayette County Battered Women’s Shelter.
A loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ms. White was preceded in death by her late husband John H. White and grandson Cameron Carter. She is survived by her son Curt (Marsha) Johnson, of Fayetteville; daughters Terri (David) Meadows, of Palmetto, and Sherri (Mike) Carter, of Hampton; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Jenni Johnson, Luke Meadows, Kurt Meadows, Kraig (Jennifer) Chester, Kelli Chester, Kristi Chester, Blake Carter and Megan Carter; great-grandchildren, Ashtyn and Aiden Chester and her brother, Curt (Janice) Mills, of Anaheim, Calif.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The Rev. Dennis Watson of Harps Crossing Baptist Church will officiate. The burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, of Stockbridge. The family received friends on Monday, Oct. 22, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
