Lovejoy scored 41 first half points as it cruised to an easy win over rival Mundy’s Mill Friday at Southern Crescent Stadium in the season opener for both teams.
The Wildcats, who reached the Class AAAA finals last season, won 44-6 to continue its 22-game regular season win streak.
After Mundy’s Mill opened the game with a seven-minute drive that resulted in a missed field goal, Lovejoy scored on its next seven possessions to take a 41-0 lead into halftime During that stretch Travis Custis, who has committed to Georgia Tech rushed eight times for 72 yards and caught three passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Wildcats quarterback Alejandro Bennifield, a Tennessee-Chattanooga commitment, was six of eight passing for 112 yards and three touchdowns.
