Mrs. Evelyn Louise Henley Tilghman, 80, of McDonough, passed away Sept. 1, 2012. Mrs. Tilghman was born in Gainesville, Fla., the daughter of the late William Walter and Reba Elizabeth Miars Henley.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends. She was a great seamstress and she was known for her home missionary work and being a very diligent prayer warrior. Mrs. Tilghman was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband of 52 years, John Tilghman, of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Anthony Corbin, of McDonough; grandchildren, Zachary Etheridge, of Kettering, Ohio, and Katie Etheridge, of McDonough, Ga.; step-grandchildren, Austin, Zach and Selena Corbin, of Marietta; brother, Bill Henley Jr. (Glenda), of Campbellton, Fla.; sisters, Betty Ann Vollenweider (Chuck), of Dallas, Ga., Lu Connerley (Harold), of Monroe, and Marthe Efurd (Sammy), of Marianna, Fla.; nephews, Robert Connerley (Lisa), Walter Henley (Michelle), Railey Efurd, James Efurd, Allen Connerley, William Vollenweider (Mona); nieces, Belinda West (David), Ebby Sumner (Wayne), Sara Hancock, Delene Vollenweider, and Iris Vollenweider; and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mrs. Tilghman will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Terry New officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
