JONESBORO — A Clayton County school bus loaded with Lovejoy High school students was hit Wednesday by a driver who lost control of the car, according to Clayton County Police Lt. C. Windley.
Police said none of the 45 children on the bus was injured in the accident at 7:43 a.m., at 10569 Tara Blvd., just south of Flicker Road.
According to police, the school bus driver was not at fault and did not receive a ticket.
“The driver of a Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Tara Boulevard, and swerved to avoid something in the roadway,” said Windley. “The driver went into the median and lost control of the vehicle and slid into the southbound traffic of Tara Boulevard, striking the school bus.”
The Honda Accord driver was issued a citation for failure to maintain lane, he added.
Emergency workers responded to the crash scene.
“Paramedics evaluated everyone,” said the lieutenant. “No one was transported to the hospital.”
