HAMPTON — Clayton County firefighters and police were called to Tara Road for an overturned landscaping truck leaking chemicals.

Clayton County Hazardous Material unit initially responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred Thursday around 2 p.m.

“They determined it was not hazardous,” said Clayton County Police officer T.D. Cash. “It is was only fertilizer.”

The overturned truck was from a Fayetteville branch of Top Turf Lawn and Pest Control, according to police.

It blocked both lanes on Tara Road for a couple hours. School buses and other traffic had to be rerouted, to a allow a Top Turf Lawn crew to clean-up the spill and Mac’s Wrecker service to tow away the damaged truck.

An official from Top Turf Lawn and Pest Control was at the scene instructing the workers in their clean up effort. He declined comment about the accident.
