JONESBORO Clayton County police were called out to investigate a shooting Saturday night, at 7:30 p.m. Reports indicate a nephew of State Rep. Joe Heckstall (D-East Point) was shot and killed near Jonesboro, while visiting at an apartment complex off Mt. Zion Parkway.
A police spokesman confirmed the call to investigate a shooting.
Heckstall has served in the State House of Representatives since 1995, according to the Georgia General Assembly's website. He will retire from his position in December, when his current term ends.
