HAMPTON — Hampton’s annual Fall Festival is back and ready to celebrate with all Southern Crescent residents.

The 15th annual celebration, better known as the Bear Creek Festival, will be held today and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Hampton Elementary School’s park, located at 19 Central Avenue. The gathering is free and open to the public.

Sharon Tarpley, president of the Hampton and Business Merchants Association, said the venue will feature live music, vendors, food, antique dealers, arts and crafts, and a kids area.

“We’ll have a little bit of everything,” said Tarpley, who has been with the organization for 12 years. “There will be clothing, hand bags, homemade honey and fudge, all kinds of foods like Korean, Mexican, greasy hamburgers, hot-dogs, and barbecue.”

She added the aromas of fresh buttery popcorn will fill the air as the boys scouts will be popping popcorn for residents.

“I hope the weather is nice,” said Tarpley. However, she said if not the weekend soirée will go on.

“We will still be there, rain or shine, cold or warm,” she said while laughing.

In addition, Tarpley said the event will also feature their 5th Annual Classic Car Show, on Sunday at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., registration is $15 and vehicles must be 1987 or older. There will also be a parade throughout Hampton at 9 a.m. on today.

“We thank all of last year’s participants for such an awesome festival and look forward to seeing them again this year,” she said.

Tarpley said so far they have 75 vendors who have signed up for the event, but they will still take more up until the day of the actual event.

“We usually have vendors that come at the last minute and that’s fine with us,” she said.
