1. SACS ‘concerned’ over Clayton schools governance
Clayton County Public Schools may be facing its third accreditation crisis in less than 10 years, as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is once again expressing concerns over the district’s governance, according to school board members.

Clayton County Board of Education member Jessie Goree said Wednesday that she may not hesitate to speak her mind, but it doesn’t make her a villain.
3. Governor: Georgia Archives will stay open
Nearly 100 supporters of the Georgia Archives got an unexpected surprise Wednesday morning at the state capitol, when Gov. Nathan Deal announced the Morrow-based archives would not close to the public as previously announced.

Patrick Ramon Moore’s attorney accused the prosecution of conducting a “trial by surprise” Thursday as the murder case advanced to closing arguments today.
5. Clayton Sheriff’s deputies raise money for competition
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is working to raise money for its honor guard to compete next year in Washington D.C.
6. SACS chief: Sky not falling in Clayton
Clayton County Public Schools is not yet at the point where it could lose its accreditation but things could get bad if politics are not removed from the district’s environment, said the head of the school system’s accrediting agency.
7. Suspected gunman in Jonesboro shooting arrested
Clayton County police have arrested Divonte Lester, who turned himself in Monday night in connection with the weekend fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man at a Jonesboro duplex.
8. Forest Park wants BOE to join TAD
Forest Park leaders insist they can speed up the redevelopment of the old Fort Gillem site if Clayton County Schools OKs a tax allocation district around the site, but school board leaders are hemming and hawing over the idea.
9. Gunman guilty of murder in multiple shooting
Patrick Ramon Moore was convicted of murder Friday and and was sentenced to life in prison, without parole, plus five years.
10. Haunted house not welcome in Morrow?
Morrow’s head of economic development says a haunted house — which donates a portion of its proceeds to help care for sick children — is not welcome in the city.
