JONESBORO — Two suspects wanted in Alabama in the March 20 shooting death of a Coast Guardsman were arrested in Clayton County over the weekend, said police.

Christopher Anthony Williams, 25, of Rockingham, N.C., and Shaniah Michelle Woods, 25, of Jonesboro are being held in the Clayton County Jail awaiting extradition to Mobile.

Woods, also known as Antwoin Marquis Woods, is biologically a male but presents in public as a woman. Woods is being held in the jail as a male.

Mobile police said the two are suspects in the shooting death of Robert Andrew Roberts, 31, of Mobile. Roberts was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as an avionics electrical technician.

Mobile police said officers responded to Baymont Hotel about 9:50 p.m. March 20 about a person shot. Police said Roberts and the suspects knew each other and he was shot during an altercation with the pair.

Mobile police said agents with the U.S. Marshals Office arrested Woods Friday and Williams Saturday.

His obituary shows Roberts was engaged to be married. Family friends reported he and his fiancee were expecting a child.
