JONESBORO — Clayton County police have identified a person of interest in the April 4 shooting death of a Conley man.

Calvin Lloyd Murdoch

Police are looking for Calvin Lloyd Murdoch, 24, in connection with the death of James Daniel Evers. Officer Danielle Rosa said Evers was found shot and killed at his home at 1784 Rock Cut Road.

Police said Murdoch is believed to be traveling with two women, Johnnie Brittany Liles, 19, and Ashlee Burkhead, 22. Murdoch should be considered armed and dangerous, said police, who warned the public against making contact with him.

Police said Murdoch is wanted in Henry County for violation of probation.

Rosa said the Clayton County Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division collected information from multiple witnesses on the scene. Witnesses reportedly told police that three unknown black males fled the scene in a green Mercury Mountaineer, believed to be a late 1990s to early 2000s model.

The SUV is believed to have a Fulton County tag. Police have reportedly linked that SUV to Murdoch.

Rosa said a witness followed the SUV until suspects opened fire on him with multiple gunshots on Falcon Court. Rosa said no one else was injured. However, detectives learned that the three unknown suspects falsely imprisoned another man at the scene, she said.

Evers, 33, had an extensive criminal history. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, he was most recently released from prison in 2010. His prior convictions include drugs and theft in Clayton and Henry counties. It is unclear if his background played a role in his death.

Anyone with information about Murdoch's whereabouts should call 911.
