LOVEJOY Residents from Clayton and Henry counties will have a chance to speak one-on-one with a member of the Georgia House of Representatives Thursday.
State Rep. Demetrius Douglas (D-Stockbridge) will host a legislative town hall meeting at 6 p.m. in Lovejoy City Hall, 2296 Talmadge Road. His district includes portions of Jonesboro, Stockbridge and Lovejoy. It also includes the Lake Spivey area.
Douglas plans to begin with a reception and then begin giving a legislative update to his constituents at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting is one of two bits of news this week for Douglas.
On Monday, he also announced he is one of 25 freshman legislators chosen to participate in the Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute. Participants are chosen by Speaker of the House, State Rep. David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, according to Douglas’ office.
The biennial institute is sponsored by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government and the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation. Officials from Douglas’ office explained it is “an opportunity for freshman legislators to develop new insight for their careers in public service, gain invaluable legislative leadership knowledge and meet with senior legislators and civic and business leaders.”
