Clayton County Public Schools returns Monday

JONESBORO — School starts Monday for Clayton County Public Schools. About 52,000 are expected to enroll for classes.

There will be a district-wide new student registration event Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Mt. Zion High School, 2535 Mt. Zion Parkway in Jonesboro. Information on registration is available at www.clayton.k12.ga.us.

Clayton State hosts Welcome Week

Clayton State University plans to host its 2013 Welcome Week, Monday through Saturday.

The annual, weeklong event is sponsored by the university’s Department of Campus Life and the Campus Events Council.

Welcome Week provides an opportunity for new and returning students to be introduced to more than 70 student organizations, departments and resources offered at Clayton State.

Nguyen earns academic honors

Thinh Nguyen of Jonesboro was named to the summer 2013 semester Dean’s List at Gordon State College. In order to be named to the Dean’s List, a student must carry 12 or more hours and maintain a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
