JONESBORO — Southern Crescent residents will be able to find out just how healthy they are — or are not — this weekend.
Congressman David Scott (D-Ga.) will host his ninth annual 13th Congressional District Health Fair on Saturday at Mundy’s Mill High School, 9652 Fayetteville Road in Jonesboro. Scott’s district includes portions of Clayton, Henry, Fayette, Fulton, Douglas and Cobb counties.
The event, which begins at 9 a.m.,will feature a presentation from Dr. Pamela Roshell, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, who will talk about the Obamacare and Marketplace Navigator roll outs. Representatives of President Barack Obama’s administration are also expected to be on hand to answer questions about the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Other officials expected to be at the health fair include:
• Leslie B. Wiggins, who is the director of the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She will be available to talk about outreach efforts designed to improve care for veterans.
• Dr. Rhonda A. Scott, who is the executive vice-president and chief nursing officer for Grady health system. She will be on hand to talk about Grady’s efforts in the areas of stroke prevention, trauma care and its burn unit.
