JONESBORO — Jonesboro police Chief Franklin Allen said a body found inside an abandoned building may be that of a homeless man believed to have been stealing copper and wire.

Allen said the man may have fallen 60 feet from the ceiling while cutting wires but nothing is confirmed.

“We’re going to work it as a homicide,” said Allen. “We’re not going to assume anything at this point.”

Allen said the medical examiner from Georgia Bureau of Investigation was en route to take the body back to Atlanta for an autopsy.
