R. Alice Grimes
R. Alice Grimes, 86 of Jonesboro, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 in her sleep.
She was born to the late Arthur and Alice Noon on Oct. 9, 1927 in Johnstown, Pa. She was also preceded in death by her first-born son, Bruce William Grimes. Alice graduated from McKeesport High School in 1945. She worked for Standard Oil after high school. She married the late William Robert Grimes in 1947, and lived in the Pittsburg area before relocating to Jonesboro, Georgia in 1964. Alice was an active member of Saint Timothy Lutheran Church in Forest Park, Georgia until its closing in 2010.
Alice is survived by four children: Timothy Robert (Carlota) Grimes of Austin, Texas; Kevin John (Anita) Grimes of Covington; Christopher James Grimes of Jonesboro; Kathleen Susan (Scott) Timbert of McDonough; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Raymond “Michael” Jones
Raymond “Michael” Jones,beloved husband and father, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013. Michael was born in Perry, Ga. Jan. 13, 1951, to Frances Clarenda Brookshire of Winder, and Raymond Richard Jones of Fort Worth, Texas.
Michael worked hard to provide for his family and served three years in the U.S. Army. During his lifetime, he enjoyed being with family, camping, painting, watching TV, and cooking chili on Saturday nights. Friends and family knew that Saturday night was open chili night at the Jones’.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joan Durrance Jones and their son Thomas Clayton “TC” Jones of Johns Creek; two sisters and their husbands, Marie Jones Caufman and Jimmy Caufman of Commerce, Ga., and Margaret Jones Whitmire and Garnett Whitmire of Gainesville, Georgia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
